WETBLOC FILM

WetBloc (WTB) is a proprietary thin stable fluorocarbon polymer film that is oleophobic with a surface energy below surface tension of a variety of adhesives. It is applied to external surfaces surrounding a nozzle exit aperture and can improve application repeatability of fluids that are difficult. Film can stop migration of some fluids tendency to climb by prevention of its ability to wet exterior surfaces as long as fluid is not enabled to jump over zone where film is applied, perhaps by swift movement of automation or smearing against a fresh deposit. WetBloc can be applied to nozzle surfaces that are coated or uncoated. Film can endure temperatures up to 200 degrees celsius. Thickness of film is very thin and is not well suited for use where abrasion can cause damage. When applied to a nozzle, care should be exercised so as not to touch, abrade or otherwise contaminate location surrounding exterior of tip where film is applied. Film does not tolerate exposure to solvents or fluorinated solvents well.

WetBloc can prevent migration or wicking in applications using UV cure adhesives, epoxies, conformal coatings and silicones that do not perform predictably in dispensing applications. WetBloc film can inhibit fluid climb and improve repeatability by keeping fluid at tip, thereby stopping buildup of an unwanted bolus around a nozzle wall that periodically transfers to a workpiece. This film improves control of fluid transfer to a workpiece by reducing variation between successive fluid deposits.

Dispense applications where a UV cure adhesive, epoxy, conformal coat or silicone fluid is predisposed to migrate or wick would be a candidate to take advantage of additional deterrence offered by adding WetBloc around exterior surface adjacent to a nozzle exit aperture. WetBloc film is available on uncoated nozzles, Electroless Nickel, Nickel PTFE, Nickel Polymer type SLK and 10K coated nozzles.
